[ .poignant.sounds. ] I was thinking that once upon a time, Music was only accessable through the radio and purchasing the actual album to hear all of the songs that a band created. [I'll rant about the fact than music has barely been acessable on a global scale for less than eighty years on another day, if I didn't already] Now we simply download single tracks of various to dubious quality.. you may not have even purchased an album inthe last six months.. I buy Minou CDs on occassion, rare I might add, but the new nin is sincerely the first album I had any anticipation to purchase. [ bought it day two and picked up the thrid last copy] Just wondering if its our social conditioning to avoid rejection? Frankly why spend money on an album that two or three tracks are quality and the rest is just B-side filler. I mean you take the super-bands [the glory rock stars that have joined up with others to make a new band] so Audioslave.. dissapointing for the Loud and Angry, I was expecting from them.. my mistake thinking that Chris Cornell still was angsty about his introspection, and that Zack dela Roca had rubbed off his Power-Tow rebel rousing vocals on the rest of his band mates.. Or others that prove that rockers are still out there and cannot keep it together.. we wind up with VelvetRevolver [aka Stone&Roses US] which is mostly pelvic thrusting 90's with one of the greatest 80's guitarists.. Frankly I thought Slash would have retired to LA's equvalent of the French Quarter.. I'm not saying these superbands are terrible, they have quite good works, but they are so advanced pass the new and up coming, its leaving a really weird level for quality music.. Popular Culture mostly has taught us that New is always Good.. but coming kiddies.. percentage wise the music industry is feeding us crap... and no one kills themselves over seeing live music anymore.. I miss live jazz and knowing who it is I'm seeing.. if I'm wrong.. correct me.. please.. |
