you are in poe's life
in all his societial cirlces
still here under our macbre
wet from being sucked under
all of the ancient tired lies
that come full around


hands make weary breathing
in this tired line of mercury
falling down against our will
we find things in abscence of your light
all velveteen and courtesy


your hurt worn clearly
your hurt won from signals that were written
so angry without your tail and knife
still sharp at the edges
from your feline needs
every claw against
the things that make you hungry


fury just one more marker
signaling our paths we thread
against our daring nights
of deed and splendor
adventures are in every corner
of the rooms we share


a mask and mirror of red
in true poe styles
wearing at the skulls
its the transistor or transition of sleep
that hungers down against the wearing wind


water turned transmission
in the glaring sound
that we cannot make out
its riddles running in surround
and rivulets of our needful being


but its more for your mask
lying under the surfaces
that shadows make up
against your curves and frayed edges
in that crimson room
where candles burn up our splendor
soft but heavily tearing us apart


where poe cannot make up
the horns we need
hidden beneath hoods of cinders
in my starving mouth
to gouge, tear, or rend this sound
that is eating at our paitent edges
that are lying in wait
