notes to a friend....

Monetary exchange is a form of trade [ yes its a capitistic tool, I'm not debating that, and don't get me started, thats another topic ] but indeed you need to trade your time and experience, like any author, mechanic, brick layer, it is of the same nature.

it is indeed your choice to or not to accept anything for you skill.
but no one, not your sangoma, not your boys or friends can tell 'you' what you are worth, nor what you chose to do with your skill.

my advice is to aquire the skill [if thats your calling], and then decide what 'price' is the right one. Do not let others dictate your worth or freedom. Your time is yours to do with as you please.

I'm a scholar first.. I've studied a lot of things, it allows me to help others the way 'I' choose and often the way they need help.
[ I think I'm selling myself too cheaply, but what ever ]

other traditions.. excuse my bad summary.. but you asked..

mexican brujos have a very long and hard tradition of study, many of them are heabalists and healers, but they spend often a lot of time with their 'student' teaching them and helping them through grueling life tests. the Ancestors and Guides are very dangerous and the Student can be in constant danger. it takes a long time to Survive and complete this training really.

Native American study mostly varies.. Medicine Men or Women often live out side of the Tribe, and go on many Jouneys to help get wisdom from Animal and Ancestor Guides. Often Shamans were Chosen by Council, their Parents were shamans, or Ancestors/Spirits guide students to being a Shaman. Again, many of them are Herbalists and go through tests, like survival alone for many days/weeks without food or water.

Siberian shamans and other Medicine men of the Artic region, I'm not fully certain, but they are very close to Native American. they're beliefs may vary but many of them believe in a spirit world and inter-connection of the universe, a web of knowledge in all things, spirits, and ancestors.

Asian studies often are more of a hierachy of masters and students, and is based on balance, eastern medicine, and an internal connection to the universe. Body, Mind, and Soul are integral to inner happiness and being productive in the world. Not explaining it all, but Reiki, Yoga, Martial Arts, etc all have these disciplines underlining their codex.

Western Occult Traditions are more mathematics, science, and Nature pratices. Tarot, Ritual, and other Divinitory studies are in the mix... the Celts would be more natural and shamaic like, again herbal lore and rigorous wilderness survival, and storytelling are mostly what apprentices would be subjected to.

I hope this ranting helps, it very basic and I know each region will always vary, but it should give you some info to ponder.

cheers love,

[ .nite.and.skin. ]

all the lights
out in the night
are watching slits
(observers watching)

lamp posts preen down
seedy traffic & guttral tail-lights
feasting and burning up
heavy sky to wet street

far off dirty dull bulbs
in apartment kitchens
look questioningly
at you and me

all these cuts glaring back
their sharpening sentience and
spear-like eyelashes are hungry
prepaired to rend meat from bone

impatiently waiting
their stark naked glare
so fresh on your supple
nitemare skin

To the Tune of "Silk-Washing Brook"

This garden of hundred acres is half covered in moss.
A white stream meanders before the gate.
But who can come here and enjoy this quietude?

In covered walkways through the small courtyard spring is silent, silent,
just mountain peach blossoms, a few apricot trees by the stream.
For whom do they drop petals, for whom do they bloom?

Mooring My Boat at Guazhou

Jinkow and Guazhou are separated by water.
Bell Mountain is just behind a few mountain ranges.
Spring wind has greened the south bank of the Yangtze again.
When will the bright moon light my way home.

Wang Anshi
(1021-1086)

Wang Anshi (Wang An-shih) was born to a modest family with a history of government service. Although Wang Anshi started out as a provincial official, under the Emperor Shenzong (reigned 1067-1085) he became the most important politician of his time, a reformer who sought to regulate many aspects of Northern Song culture, from education to the military.

When the conservative forces in the government opposed his reforms, he fell from favor and resigned. He was a protege of Ouyang Xiu, who praised his work, and like Ouyang saw literature as in the Confucian tradition of promoting moral and social improvements.

His collected poems consist of more than 1500 pieces, and a number of his prose pieces also survive. He is known for the simplicity and clarity of his poems, especially for those written in the regulated verse form, and as one of the Eight Masters of Song and Tang Dynasty Prose. : source :

" I'm afraid...to sleep because of the way you haunt me.
I know you can make me fall apart so softly
And know you turn away so easily
And leave me all alone "
~dallas green

Late night.. my hour, really. slept till 4pm today.. I'm not well, I suppose this shouldn't be a surprise, need to work less perhaps.

I'm on my last run with my meds. weaning myself off them this next two months, so I'll see how this goes. I know I still have down days, and feelings I cannot account for. thoughts are still imbalanced I should say. I'm not sure I'm ready to be off them, but its procedure. I'd rather be free of it, but I have been more settled and productive with them. the honeous should be on me, and not the meds, to control my moods.

my relationships have been lacking I suppose. I find I'm on different schedules than everyone.. no one gets back to me.. I'm trying to be free for others in my life, but it seems this just isn't the time. it never seems like my time, to speak up and be selfish, to get what it is that I want... I just don't want to chase anyone anymore.. its been fruitless, and all kinds of signs say not to give up, to carry on.. but thats what I've been doing a long time. do I get to lay my head down and rest? cuz I don't want to wait a whole life to get something that should be so simple.

how much faith is left to waiting?

*sigh*

well, its bed time for demons..

.action.must.be.taken.
01.17.07 (3:25 am)   [edit]

Quoting freelove: don't you think life is easier to bear if you have a "meaning" or "purpose" to motivate your action? if you believe that everything you do is pointless in the grand scheme of things, it's pretty hard to get motivated ... and it is fairly easy to prove things are pointless, because at the end of the world, all of this thriving life will be reduced to nothing ... making every act as if it were nothing ... (rant all you like... ;))

Okay.. *stretches* here comes a brief novel..

"I" make my own meaning; I get out of existance what I choose to.

If this is now, and now is all we have, should we be wasting time pondering if it counts or not? Is the Past Relative? we cannot change it (thats another rant). Is the future relevant? it has not come yet. Should we not live in the now, the experience of Now; we are Human Beings, and should "be'.

If it 'counts', then we should have spent the time 'living', not 'Considering' living.

If it doesn't count, if our actions do not matter, would we be here pondering it? that seems a bit redundant.

Why have time, if we do not choose what we do with it?

We preceive what we choose to.

We focus and understand what our senses allow us to. And I assure you there are more worlds & events taking place than we can comprehend taking action, as we exist in the now.

If you have the time to complain about something,
you have the time to DO something about it.

... from the Bhagavad-Gita..
" You have control over action alone,
never over its fruits.
Live not for the fruits of action,
nor attach yourself to inaction. "

Feelings are from the realm of the mind, and what we tell ourselves, what we 'feed' our minds with is the result we get out. I'm making this as brief as possible, just bare with my bad summary.

The Body produces hormones and protiens based on what we tell it to; neurologically, systemically, physiologically, subconsciously. Sometimes our bodies & cells are used to being fed the same proteins and 'negative' emotions, and we physically can become addicted to this imbalance.

It can take a force of thought, life changing event, or a need to create a chemical stability, in order to re-define our physical 'needs' in terms of what we tell our bodies, what we 'feel'. So we have to feed it differently.

When we use negative internal statements "I'm ugly, stupid; I never have enough time" etc... we reinforce an internal concept. its a pattern that is very hard to break; mental 'chatter' is very hard to free ourselves from.

So, back on topic.. Motivation... Meaning.. Purpose. Our purpose is to Live, to Be... to experience life. It is our experiences that make us unique, our actions define us.

Why do I need purpose or meaning as a motivation?

'Living' Is motivation, it certainly is something you can only say for sure you only do once, like Death, another type of journey, you only get to do it once.

*sigh* Everything is about Perspective.

Life and living matter to ME, so it matters.

A fable example :

" the beach is miles long and there are hundreds of stranded starfish, many will die before you reach them - do you really think throwing back a few starfish is really going to make a difference?"

"It makes a difference to this one" she said.

My advice... and choice..

.. Save the world, one life at a time, starting with your own.

much love

.you.are.not.free.
01.15.07 (12:54 am)   [edit]

No, you are not a free man. You are dependent on your employer and on your wages.
You are really a wage slave.

The whole working class, under the capitalist system, is dependent on the capitalist class. The workers are wage slaves.

So, what becomes of your freedom? What can you do with it? Can you do more with it than your wages permit?

Can't you see that your wage - your salary or income - is all the freedom that you have? Your freedom, your liberty, don't go a step further than the wages you get.

The freedom that is given you on paper, that is written down in law books and constitutions, does not do you a bit of good. Such freedom only means that you have the right to do a certain thing. But it doesn't mean that you can do it.

To be able to do it, you must have the chance, the opportunity. You have a right to eat three fine meals a day, but if you haven't the means, the opportunity to get those meals, then what good is that right to you?

So freedom really means opportunity to satisfy your needs and wants. If your freedom does not give you that opportunity, than it does you no good. Real freedom means opportunity and well being. If it does not mean that, it means nothing.

You see, then, that the whole situation comes to this: Capitalism robs you and makes a wage slave of you. The law upholds and protects that robbery.
The government fools you into believing that you are independent and free.

In this way you are fooled and duped every day of your life. But how does it happen that you didn't think of it before? How is it that most other people don't see it, either?
It is because you and every one else are lied to about this all the time, from your earliest childhood.

You are told to be honest, while you are being robbed all your life.

You are commanded to respect the law, while the law protects the capitalist who is robbing you.

~beckman, 1929

Their wings banging and burning, On through endless nights,
Forever awake he lies shaking and starving,

So, its twothousandandseven .. *blink* Yup, its started.

been busy, mostly reading and getting more disillusioned lately.

I suppose studying anarchy isn't really meant to settle one's being, perhaps.. but duely noting capitalism's grasp on western culture, it forces me to consider appropriate solutions or even actions to take.

Betterment of Man... Equality... Value of the individual or the laborer's fruits.. all remain fantastic concepts, but adjusting society to attain these ideals creates a bit of a structural issue.

I guess you can't re-make a building without dismantling its interior at least. Someone needs to mail me the 'modern guide to living as a wage slave'.. its frustraiting reading documents nearly ninety years old, and to realise that nearly nothing has changed.. dispite the societal fruits of 'many' women & men... those silenced or heard.

Has no one considered that identifiable mental illnesses are on the rise? Minds are indeed trying to be free of a system that steals our wealth and teaches us that it is right and just.

Pretty strong irony in a system that provides approval to the medication its masses need to stay stable.

I guess this makes the media pedagogues of our time the most prominent bourgeoisi e...

CANCER (June 21–July 22): If you're not rejected or refused at least once in early 2007, you're probably not trying hard enough. Life is dying to teach you a thing or two about not giving up, no matter what. The gods of success won't hand you your Purple Heart, let alone your intelligence upgrade, until you prove that you can fight ferociously for your dreams even when you're a bit puzzled. Here's a formula that will serve you well during your heroic (but amusing!) ordeal: Find a way to coordinate your spiritual longing with your creative rage. Here's another tip: Learn to identify and capitalize on the fertile chaos that's all mixed up with the plain old ordinary chaos.

propaganda, consider :

The time of that realization will depend on two factors: first, on how soon existing conditions will grow spiritually and physically unbearable to considerable portions of mankind, particularly to the laboring classes; and, secondly, on the degree in which Anarchist views will become understood and accepted.

Our social institutions are founded on certain ideas; as long as the latter are generally believed, the institutions built on them are safe. Government remains strong because people think political authority and legal compulsion necessary. Capitalism will continue as long as such an economic system is considered adequate and just.

The weakening of the ideas which support the evil and oppressive present-day conditions means the ultimate breakdown of government and capitalism. Progress consists in abolishing what man has outlived and substituting in its place a more suitable environment.

Hold on slow down
again from the top now and tell me everything
I know I've been gone for what seems like forever
But I'm here now waiting
To convince you that I'm not a ghost or a stranger
But closer than you think
She said, "just go on to what you
Pretend is your life but
Please don't die on me"

Wings won't take me
Heights don't phase me
So take a step
But don't look down
Take a step

Now I'm standing on the rooftop ready to fall
I think I'm at the edge now but I could be wrong
I'm standing on the rooftop ready to fall

Perpetual motion the image won't focus
A blur is all that's seen
But here in this moment like the eye of the storm
It all came clear to me
I found a shoulder to lean on
An infallible reason to live all by itself
I took one last look from the heights that I once loved
And then I ran like hell

Wings won't take me
Heights don't phase me
So take a step
But don't look down
Take a step

Now I'm standing on the rooftop ready to fall
I think I'm at the edge now but I could be wrong
I'm standing on the rooftop ready to fall

I count the times that I've been sorry
I know, I know
Now my compassion slowly drowns
I know, I know
If there's a time these walls could guard you
I know, I know
Then let that time be right now

Now I'm standing on the rooftop (ready to fall)
